Something for Everyone! All the glory without killing yourself! We’ll leave the hard part to the aerial tramway from Palm Springs and make a short hike to Round Valley for the camp. Saturday morning will find us making our way to the top of San Jacinto (10,804’) just 4 miles away before returning to camp. Sunday, we’ll hike back to the tram and come home. While this mountaineering experience won’t count for scout badges or patches, you’ll get all the thrills of making the peak and we’ll as a great trip up (and down) the famous Palm Springs Tram, (a trip worth taking all by itself).

This outing will give you a feeling for backpacking in truly alpine conditions. Trail meals should include two lunches, one dinner and two breakfasts as well as the usual "extra" meal. Water will be available at campsite.

Although this is the easiest route to the mountaintop, it’s still pretty tough going and will require good hiking shoes or boots. Costs will include fuel share and tram ticket expense ($21.95).

An early departure from SRL will ensure campsite before dark.
